On July 2nd, 2016 at 08:14 hrs. Labette County 911 Dispatch received a report of a non-injury accident, occurring west of Parsons at the 24000 / U400 Junction. 

 

Upon arrival, emergency responders determined a 2006 Jeep Commander was traveling eastbound on 24000 when the driver failed to negotiate a turn towards the north.  The vehicle continued eastbound, entering a field, and then entered into a pond.  The driver managed to swim to safety.

 

E.M.S. Water rescue responded and assisted with locating and then the removal of the vehicle, which was discovered to be approx. 20 feet below the surface.

 

The driver, Christopher W. Walker, age 34, of Parsons, was not injured during the accident.
