On February 21, 2016 at 16:51 hrs., a correctional officer making rounds discovered an inmate, Bruce A. Bingaman, 53 years of age, of Parsons, unresponsive in his cell.  Labette County EMS was notified, but was unable to resuscitate Bingaman.  Labette County Coroner Daniel Hiben was then notified.  Bingaman was pronounced dead on scene. 

As required by state law, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation was immediately notified and is conducting an investigation.

Bingaman was the sole occupant of the cell.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
